The junior high TREK
Junior high is a unique and transitional stage in life for many students. The name “Trek” describes our belief that following Christ is a great adventure that takes to places we wouldn’t otherwise go. This is a challenging path, and the goal is to keep moving forward and growing deeper relationships with God and with each other. The Trek ministry has three main components: Featured events, club meetings, and study meetings.
Featured Events are monthly activities designed to attract students to come and ENCOUNTER our youth ministry and hear the Gospel. The guiding principle is to create a place where teens feel energized, welcomed & accepted, and will want to bring friends to.
Trek Club meetings offer a place and time for students to ESTABLISH a relationship with Christ and with their peers. The meetings include times of getting to know one another, worship, and spiritual encouragement. The discussions are accessible to students from all spiritual backgrounds. The club meeting is for all youth that are looking for friendship, fellowship, and spiritual direction. Students are also encouraged to be involved in spiritual disciplines like Scripture memory.
Trek Study meetings are designed to EQUIP students to spend time in the Word of God, think Biblically, understand spiritual identity, and enhance confidence in Christ.
What If I Have Not Been involved in AWANA Before?
The Trek ministry is the junior high program of AWANA. Many students come to FBC without having ever attended AWANA. The Trek ministry is specifically designed to encourage students to bring unchurched friends—so ALL youth can have the opportunity to hear the Gospel and be a part of a youth group. The small group leaders facilitate a relevant Bible study by engaging the students in thoughtful reflection and application. No student needs to have been in AWANA prior to joining Trek.
Meeting Times:
Featured Events are at various times depending on the event. Check the calendar on the home page for the latest details and when and where.
Club Meeting is on Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8pm in the Civic Auditorium.
Study Meeting is on Sunday morning from 11am – 12pm in an assigned classroom.
